When weeks run away...

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything catches up on you? No matter how hard you try to organise things time seems to run away and you find yourself hurtling towards the weekend with more than half your to do list still needing to be done. I will admit that sometimes I find the weather distracting, the call of a warm sun and the pull of a blue sky are almost irresistible, in Britain and especially Swansea (the rainiest city in the UK) you seem to spend half your life under a grey sky. I have learnt to take my work outside and I love a little bit of alfresco crafting (as long as I weigh down the felt), but it does seem to me that I love the drawing, cutting, sewing and the gluing more than I do anything else. So when it comes to the more practical side of crafting such as writing the ads I put them off for as long as I can. Which leaves us with a pile of drawings boxes of completed projects and notebooks full of instructions waiting to be typed in. So next time you write a to do list take my advice and find the thing that you least want to do and do it first, then perhaps your week will go better than mine.

Have a great week!

The Bear Necessities

As I mentioned before our backgrounds were done in black and white so they didn’t distract from the colour of the dolls. The inspiration for these backgrounds came from a childhood love affair with a little bear from darkest Peru.

We avidly watched Paddington Bear as children and I loved to read the books under my blankets with a torch. I dreamed of joining Paddington & Mr Gruber for elevenses, so when we were thinking settings for the dolls the image of the wonderfully drawn backgrounds came to mind. Although they are not a patch on the scenery in Paddington, I am proud that a little bit of Paddington is still inspiring me today.

Meet Sabrina & Fifi

These two cuties are the first felt doll kits we have put up in our Etsy shop, there are four more felt doll kits ready to follow them as you can see. We have sketch pads full of designs to develop into felt dolls and we are already working on our next dolls.

The cut out backgrounds are drawn by us, we thought that the black and white colour wouldn’t distract from the felt dolls themselves. The colourful rickshaw type of cycle we picked up in a local charity shop, I have no idea where it’s from but by the writing on it I think someone must have brought it back on holiday.

Two Heads Are Better Than One

This has been a hectic week what with a Wimbledon fascinator turning into brooch at the 11th hour, but that’s another story. We finally seem to have got there in the end, we have two felt doll kits up in the Etsy shop four more to follow next week and after that we hope to have items up on Folksy too. I know that if I’d had to do all this on my own it would have been a nightmare, I would have been stressed to the hilt and wanting to pull my hair out. But that is the beauty of working with my sister, everything is easier when you have someone else to discuss things with. Any problem which would seem like a mountain on your own now looks like a bump on the road. So thanks sis for making life and felt so much easier.
